Default where to find glass frit jars

Guess I am tired of using baby food jars! Does anyone know where I can find nice glass jars for frit? I see lots of frit sold in them but I want to put the frit I all ready have in jars.
thanks

I googled and found this co. I think they were about .50 each. They are 4 oz glass jars with a white lid. I think I paid more for the shipping than the jars themselves but I am sure they are bulky too. I looked up Val but her shop is closed for a few days and the last time I looked she wasn't selling them.

I love shopping at American Science & Surplus - not only do they have great deals, but the item descriptions can be pretty funny. They have a pretty good variety of glass bottles/jars , plastic containers, and just about anything else you can think of!

OMG, I remember my mom had TONS of those little jam jars lying around. She never threw them away, and we always used to get Knotts Berry Farms jam/jelly samplers for the holidays. I think she moved she finally threw them out. Hrm...I'll have to ask her if she still has them tucked away somewhere...

I'm gonna throw out another suggestion. I tried small-mouth glass jars and they annoyed me. I love the little aluminum watchmaker cases from Lee Valley! They come in various sizes (depending on how much frit you buy) and they're great for containing the frit if you like to roll beads in, say, a demitasse spoon full of frit. I get a lot LESS mess with these jars.

http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...48&cat=1,43326

If the link doesn't work for you, go to leevalley.com, choose woodworkers tools, then storage, then watchmaker cases.

Oooh! I have a ton of those (of course, they still have eyelets in them for scrapbooking....maybe some day I'll get caught up on my scrapbooking and use up the crap I have for that hobby and use the tools/tins for my other hobbies....yeah, right!!) Hee.

I might have to steal some from my scrapbooking stash and try them out!

I love the glass jars Val sells. They're the same as her plastic jars and I just open the jar and leave it right on my work bench. I use a spoon to pick it up for rolling or sprinkling and get very little mess.

My dad had nuts and bolts in baby food jars, with magnets on the lids and had them stuck under cabinets out in his shed...I'd forgotten about that until beadgirl mentioned magnets...=)

Wow, I never would have thought of gluing magnets to jars and have them hanging somewhere!! That's a very creative idea!

Another suggestion is gluing magnets on the back and stick them to a cookie sheet and hang the cookie sheet.

I don't have as much frit as a lot of you, but I am using a spice rack carousel that holds about twenty four two ounce jars. they are at a tilt and I put the name of the frit on the top and can rotate it 360 degrees and it takes up minimal space on the worktop. then I can spoon out whatever I need with a small spoon. You can find these in varying sizes at the thrift store.
Works for me!

I found some metal spice jars with magnets on the bottom at Linens N Things. I also got one of those metal mesh silverware organizers. The metal jars fit perfectly and the magnets hold them in place. I lean the mesh thing against the wall. Oh and the jars have little holes on one side around the top for shaking out the spices. I wouldnt want to do that with my frit though, so I have to make sure the holes are covered when I put the lid back on.

I use 4 oz jelly jars I got at the grocery store. Just perfect for the 5 oz of frit in the bulk buys. About $7/doz and no shipping charges

For jar storage, if any of you live near an Ikea, score one of their wooden lazy susan's (in the kitchen dept). They're heavy wood (maple?) with a very sturdy ball bearing spinner. I have about 50 jars of frit stacked on each of two, and they still turn freely and have lots of room. Oh, and they were only about $8.

Now that I bought the glass jars I will have to hit Ikea up for the lazy susan! Then to find a place to put the lazy susan.

Also, at Jo-Ann Fabrics in the wedding section for favors, they have 30 tin rounds in a tub for $19.99, but look for their 40% off coupon...

Got my glass jars in the mail yesterday. It only took 2 days for shipping! Only bad thing, I did not order enough! Guess I had more frit than I thought.

Just saw something at Home Depot that might be handy. They have clear plastic storage jars with lids that have magnets on them. The set comes with 4 jars and a piece of metal that can be mounted to the wall. I think the set was around $6. Look in the section where they have modular garage/tool storage stuff.

Gail has several sizes of frit containers for sale on her site (GGGlass):

I think her prices are really affordable!
