another use for the bell flower press
Make your flower on wire and smash and twist the ends.

Wow, those are gorgeous. They look like the Venetian blown beads.

Thanks everyone. I also did a few without twisting the ends but I don't care for them as much. Such a great tool and now I will get even more use out of it. Hope you all can too!

So pretty! So they turn out hollow? I like that better than the flowers too!

There is a small amount of air trapped but they aren't what I would call hollow.

Those are beautiful! How were you able to grab all the ends to twist? I think I need a bellflower press now, lol.

Immediately after you make the flower in the press use either tweezers or mini mashers and squash and rotate, squash and rotate, squash and rotate. You should end up with the glass flower shape left untouched at the base and the tip should be kind of a glob that you can then gently heat and twist and pull to get the finished twisty look.
Does that make sense or should I take a picture next time I torch?

It makes sense but could you please take a picture the next time you torch. Pictures are so much easier to understand. I have a bell flower press but have been afraid to use it since the process of globbing the glass into the flower bowl and somehow getting the wire in also, is too confusing. Thanks. Lydia

I tried a couple of them the other day. There is a bit of a learning curve. The one on the left is fine. Twist looks lopsided but it's not. The one on the right though - I got the pliers twisted in the glass a bit too much so it's thick and lopsided. lol ! They are hollow though I can say that. This is the 20mm size.

Even the one you say is lopsided is pretty. Reminds me of a rosebud.

I made some new earrings today! Thanks for the idea. I think it's a really pretty way to make bellflowers.

Ellen!!! WOW!!! You just broke the curve on the learning curve! Those are beautiful.
I think I'm going to try this at Pam's 50th Birthday Glass Jam coming up in Rockland!

Too funny Sue! I was just thinking of Pam and going to send her a quick message about these beads.
What there's a Glass Jam for her birthday, I'm kicking myself that I didn't know. I would have loved to have surprised her.
