Default DeCosta's Shimmer Queen Bead

Just received Marcia DeCosta's book Beaded Opulence and found a lampwork bead that I have never seen the process before. Can anyone tell me how it is done?
I think the last time I asked a question here was around 5 years ago - having had a stroke and partially lost the use of my left hand I am a bit slow and now tend to stick to the tried and true when making my beads.
Thanks
Marlene

I cannot give you a photo because it would breech copyright, I now find out that the beads were originally made by one John Curtis around 1997, and that he is not making beads any more. The work was called lusterware and were certainly lovely to behold. I have since also seen other photos that show the bead side on and this lusterwork is attached after the basic bead was made, also there was some cafuffle on LW in October 2009 that got a bit heated because some poor innocent happened to want to know how to make the bead - it is all in the wording, I do not wish to be jumped upon as this poor lass was but to give credit to someone who made something beautiful.
