I bought a hollow steel rod from the hardware store, and they even cut it into 3 sections for me. They had a variety of diameters to choose from.

Be VERY careful when getting the steel tubings from anywhere but a welding supplier or glass supplier- the ones at Lowe's and Home Depot are treated with Zinc which when heated produces LETHAL vapors. I just got mine from LBS Supplys and it is great I hope this helps!!!!! I got a 1/4 in one.
