I have posted these before but here they are again.

This is my old setup and it worked great for the small space I had.

Tracy, how do you keep your holders together. Do you have them in a box or duct tape, etc?

LOL

Gotta ask. What do you keep in the "card catalog" drawers??? I was eyeing a card catalog up at my daughters school Wednesday night because they said it is going away. Looked a little too short for rod storage.

What is everyone using for their divider system (the square sections)?? I like the cubby cube design but not real thrilled with round PVC. Thinking vinyl fencing but that might be expensive. Cheaper I go the more glass I can buy.

Lamplighter lots of us do use the vinyl fencing and when you buy it in 8' lengths and cut it yourself it really isn't that expensive. You can build the wooden boxes to fit around them with scraps of wood. I ususally check out my HD when I am there for scrap plywood.

I used gorilla glue to attach my sections of rail together and it has never slipped. I used the PVC pipes when I first started but they seemed to me like they took up too much space and were akward.

Hubby made this one a while back, I love it!
The diagonal thin wood comes out to hold larger amounts. I can also add PVC pipes if say I have a small amount of glass to separate them.

Thanks Stacied,

I checked out the older thread and yes I can get the fencing fairly cheap. Thanks for the Gorilla Glue tip. Awesome. I'm doing the coffee can route for storage now and it's just not very handy.

Olimpia. What a clever hubby. Very nice storage. I can't imagine ever having to take the dividers out. But ooooohhh so many colors of glass to try.

my glass storage is gutter downspouts that i had cut to fit into the cubbies. i like the square shape with the plexiglass dividers to add even more space. you can get sheets of that at home depot and cut it to fit into the gutters on a diagonal.

i use the "card catalog" to store all my jewelry making tools. one drawer holds earring making tools, one holds stringing wires, one holds crimping tools, one holds sterling silver clippings left over from making jewelry, etc. my mandrels are stored in a reproduction sugar mold on top of my glass storage. it is a handy storage unit and everything is easy to grab. i have a work table on casters so i can roll it up next to that area when i am making jewelry and have everything at my finger tips. ...kath

thanks, laurie. it is an old printers box. i used plexiglass to make a cover for it to keep the beads from getting dusty. i keep it stored and handy on the shelf just under the top of the rolling table. ...kath

Thanks for the info on the card catalog. I was oggling for glass storage. Figured it would keep items from getting dusy.

Awesome use of the "printer's case". Having been in printing for the last 20+ years, I have an extra appreciation for that.

I love your setup for storage. Thanks for all the details on the different parts.

Hi Laurie,

They are also known as a "type case" as well as printers case. It was quite literally used to set little metal letters into in the "ol days" for setting type. Check antique vendors and flea markets. Good Luck!!
