Unhappy How Long does it take

I placed an orderand paid for a kiln from a company in my state .( thinking about shipping etc) That was two weeks ago. I have sent a few e-mails asking when I might expect to get this kiln and have not received any return e-mails, phone calls etc. I'm beginning to get worried since they won't answer by questions. Am I just being two antsy or am I being reasonable?

I would call them instead of emailing. Who is the vendor? Some vendors sell kilns they don't have in stock.

At this point I really don't want to reveal the vendor, perhaps if I don't hear from them soon I will do so. It was my impression that they had the kiln in stock. At the time I placed the order I did ask If this kiln was in stock and did not receive an answer. But to my way of thinking If they did have to assemble a kiln then two weeks is kind of stretching it. I know if I had an order for $800+ Id beat my feet to get it filled asap.

In my experience AIM kilns take notoriously long to get. They are not sitting in the factory waiting to be shipped out but each one is built when an order is made.

So, I don't know what type of kiln you ordered, but it could take over a month to get an AIM kiln. I have one, it works great, but I will not buy another because of this. Waiting six weeks for equipment needed to do my work just didn't work for me.

When I bought my kiln it took over a month for me to receive it.

It wasn't an AIM kiln however the add did say that the person did make the kilns. Well if I havn't gotten any response soon I'm going to call them and if that doesn't work file a complaint with pay pal

Based on where you're located and the fact that you state that the person makes the kilns I can only speculate perhaps you're talking about Glass Hive and Mike Crowley. If this is correct then I urge you to call as Mike has never been anything but stupendously great and no one here has anything bad to say about him. If there is a problem I'm sure there's a very good reason/explanation.

If it's not Mike then I'm sorry you're having a problem and I would still definitely call to see what's going on.

Good luck.

Yepers... if it's a Glass Hive, give Mike a call. He'll let you know the status. These are the best built kilns I've ever seen, so if there is a back log of orders, I'd still wait for it. It'll be worth it in the end...

Brent,

I'm not the one having a problem. I was trying to let the OP know that if it was Mike that he's a good guy and no one here has ever had any problems.

I tried to order a kiln from a reputable glass dealer - wanted the largest one they made so I could fuse with it as well. After 6 months, and several back and forth emails, they finally admitted they wouldn't be making that one any more (although it is still on their website.) I ordered a different one that they assured me they would have made in 2-3 weeks. 2 months later I cancelled that and ordered a completely different one from another large glass dealer that was reselling Paragon kilns. I have had a lot of issues with the kiln, but at least I got it reasonably quickly to begin with.

I just bought a JenKen JK2 15" deep kiln through my local glass supplier who ordered it from JenKen and had it shipped straight to me. Got it in less than a week and a half (would have had it in a week, but the local trucking company screwed up on the delivery twice.)

I think he was actually agreeing with you - like "yepper" or "yep" and it just happened to be similar to your name

Hey Squid....

You know....that never even occurred to me to read it that way. Isn't that funny? So we all agree that Mike is a stand-up guy and if the OP was referring to him then she should definitely call and get this resolved.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Understandable, since it did kinda look like he was addressing you - and heck, for all I know, I was wrong .

And yeah, my next kiln will definitely be from Mike!

Mike you ROCK! Ohhhh and I love you!

Liz, The Glasshive has their phone number on their webiste and I have to tell ya: Mike and Deb are WONDERFUL people! They are great at returning calls! I had damage occur with my kiln due to delivery. I called Mike and he sent me out what I needed to make it better than new BEFORE I even sent him the part back.

I have never met a business man (should be Gentleman) who takes such pride in his product AND customer service. I love my Glass Hive kiln and wish I had made it my first kiln instead of my second and last kiln.

Ooooh I love love love my new GlassHive kiln! He extended a sale just to accommodate people who needed a couple of extra weeks, he answered my e-mails promptly and my kiln arrived in perfect condition in just 2-3 weeks. I'm kicking myself that I didn't get it sooner!

edit to clarify - I mean that I wish I had ordered one sooner

Thanks everybody. I did make a phone call and Mike in return called me back. My kiln will be shipped out on Tuesday. I did not check my spam folder so I'm sure that is where his return e-mails ended up ( stupid me!) I really think that the kiln will be much better than any other I have used and seen and to my way of thinking the price was very, very resonable. Anyone looking for a kiln please check these folks out

Glad to see everything got worked out. Seriously....Mike's kilns are the best! I've been jonesing for an extra wide one but can't quite justify it right now as I barely have time to get on the torch as it is but you KNOW that my next kiln is definitely going to be from Mike!!!

Happy, happy, happy!!!!!

All what she said. Mike sent new bricks and new element super pronto after rough shipping damage. My favourite part was that because the kiln is built in a very simple and "make-sense" way, I was able to put everything back together without the directions(I am very bad with directions. I HATE directions. I am very male that way).
