Default Chemtane Question

I have a tank of Chemtane just sitting here. Is it okay to use with a duel fuel torch like my lynx?

It is my understanding that Chemtane is actually LP with an additive that makes it burn hotter. If so you would think it would be okay to use it up on my lynx and even refill it with LP (if it has the OPV valve).

Bought for traveling with a hothead, but quickly decided to take a minor with me instead.

Thanks, Karen

I cant give you a technical answer as i dont honestly know for sure, but i'd be extremely careful as bench torches are designed to work primarily with natural gas and propane, meaning the materials used in the torch have a normal temperature tolerance.

the problem i see is the LP burning hot enough to heat your torch to the point of either damaging the delivery system, or possibly even heating the hose barbs and inturn melting your hoses.

it doesnt sound like a great idea to me, but i've given my two cents and i'm open to hearing the other side of the argument -- as it may work just fine and dandy!

Several years ago I upgraded from a HH to a Lynx and had the same question since I used Chemtame. At the time I was told it would not hurt the torch, but just burn hotter so I went ahead and used it. In retrospect, I regret finishing off that tank. It didn't hurt my torch at all, but I really feel it made the transition from HH to Lynx much more difficult because it burned hotter than it should have. Once that tank was finally gone and I switched to propane, everything felt much more controllable.

Got a pm from a semi local that might want it for their HH so I'll go that route and use the money a for a lp refill or two. Thanks!
