Default Jaguar spots?

My MIL is a high school teacher, and their mascot is the jaguar. She wants me to make her some beads with jaguar spots.

How would you go about making these spots? Carefully placed, off setting dots, or would you pull a murrini to have some kind of conformity for it? I've never done anything more complicated than the starburst murrini tutorial, so I don't even know how I'd begin making one like this. Any tips would be appreciated.

We did a safari bead exchange here last year that had a lot of different techniques in it. That thread is here: http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=87523

There's also a great thread on WC that covers lots of them as well and that's here: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225248

Hopefully that will give you a place to start. Good luck!

I did this Pink Leopard Big Hole Bead, using Gina's WC guide, to match my favorite specs:

Just adding some visual candy! Hope you'll show us what you came up with, TraciDawn!

I never thought to doing a murrini with spots for animal prints but that's a great idea! Depending how you finish them either melt them in slightly, push them in and cap them you would get a nicely sort of 'uniform' look.

Cheers

Glad it helped! When we did the safari bead exchange I played with all of them for about a week. It's fun and when I took the beads to work to show everyone, they were a big hit.

De, love the beads to match your specs!

Traci - I made some jaguar beads when Jennifer was on the Jasper Jazz drill team - their mascot is the Jaguar. They turned out pretty cool, their school colors are green, black and white, and that is the color that I made the beads. You can remind me to show them to you the next time we get together....

For me it would be easier to use stringers for the dots. I suggest that you look at Lauscha Vanilla Ice to approximate the back ground color in the second photograph.
