Coaxing Aurae to be gold
Hi. I've had such a range of colors in Aurae's metallic finish, but I'm wanting to get more gold hues for a custom set. Can anyone tell me if there is a way they know of to choose gold over its blues and silver, etc?
TIA

I know of two ways but I'd bet there are more...First, encase transparent amber with Aurae and it will go gold...or, Aurae shards, lightly reduced will go gold. The only time I get blue is when I reduce for too long. Good luck with your set!

When used over Aurae, you get gold with Aether Clear and blues/purples with Diamond Clear.

Aurae Techniques - Carolyn Muir:
May be you can read what Carolyn Muir wrote on this subject. She make really beautiful beads with Aurea.

Thanks Lise!
The most consistent way for me is described on the Lauscha Lady page. The key for me is to not let the bead cool too much and to reduce by switching up the propane rather than turning down the oxy. I'm sure there are many other ways to do this.

I do the flashdance thing with Aurae to get gold raised decoration. I cool just until the glow fades the I turn down the oxy and flash the bead in and out a few time, twirl it in the reduction flame briefly, then sort of swipe in and out a couple of times. Less is more with Aurae. Actually less is more is the way I do all my reductions, just a quick bath in a low oxy flame.
