Holly Cooper
Price: $650 ($700 after April 15)
With a background in painting, art history, textiles, ceramics, jewelry and finally glass, Holly Cooper’s work melds all of these disparate disciplines into her complex decorative work. This is an intermediate class focusing on stringer control and design. Holly will show you her techniques to create intricate detailed patterns on a small glass surface. The class will also touch on ideas that will help promote individuality in your work. She’ll show how to manipulate fine stringers using simple tools and techniques as well as discuss the properties of glass as it relates to the making of stringers that hold an intricate pattern. She will also demonstrate and discuss surface design elements such as: rhythmic pattern, negative and positive space, color, scale and proportion, bead shape and its relationship to the design, and modular pattern development. She uses modular development as a means of creating a complex design within a simple framework. She will demonstrate step-by-step how to achieve this look in beads.
