Help! Pandora Challenged!
Hi Everyone! Believe it or not, I think I'm one of the few people who doesnt know what a pandora bead is! I think it has something to do with hole size.
Can anyone tell me what one is exactly and where to get the supplies for mandrels and core-ers? What size is a standard pandora? Where to get the proper mandrels and core tools?
Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike

Okay, what the heck, I'll let you in on the big "secret." Basically, Troll, Pandora, Biagi, and Chamilla and others are all brand names for a bracelet and/or necklace system that allows the wearer to change the order and kind of silver and glass beads whenever they would like to. All of these systems have a clasp that attaches to the bracelet with two lobster claw closures. The larger closure is used to take the bracelet on and off and the smaller closure is used to take the charms and beads off to reorder them or add new ones.
As for equipment, there are small size variations in the different brands. Troll is a bit smaller than the others so beads that will fit just Troll can be made on a 3/32 mandrel. The other systems require either a double dipped 3/32 mandrel or a 1/4 mandrel. There are lots of systems to core the finished beads, and if you do a search, I'm sure you can find half dozen pretty easily. I have the Jim Moore tool: http://toolsforglass.com/index.html But there are lots of others. You can the silver tube at any of the jewelry supply places that carry silver tubing -- Rio Grande, Metiliferous, or Ott Frei.

Oh, you can also get knock-off versions of these bracelets in many places. This website has a bunch of them: http://www.evesaddiction.com/

I have a question about the finished hole size. Mine is slightly larger than 4mm.( I dropped a Swarovski 4mm down through the hole,no problem) Is that big enough for Pandora?

4.37 mm will fit pandora, so it depends on how much "slightly larger" is.
