How noisy is your studio?
I see a lot of people mentioning watching TV or listening to recorded books or music while they torch. I can't hear the radio, doorbell or phone in mine, let alone listen to music or recorded book! I have the squirrel cage fan going (LOUD), plus 2 5lpm concentrators (LOUD).
My question: are people using earphones or just have a better (i.e. not cobbled-together out of free materials) setup? If not, how noisy is your studio?

Mine is fairly quiet, except when the music is up real loud. I have two separate can fans, one of which is right by my bench (it's on a powder box). I don't do noise well and have gotten so used to my mirage being so quiet that when the cc is light it drives me batty.
I highly recommend the can fans, save your penny's. I was fortunate in that a friend gifted me with the fans and installed the large one outside on the opposite wall from my bench.
To the ventilation police: My set up passes with flying colors!

My oxycon is very quiet, my fan is loud
My workspace is a bit quieter now I'm not on a hothead anymore - I could listen to music if I had some speakers in there, but I don't think I'd want to listen to speech.

My squirrel cage fan is very noisy - but I can turn up the music to drown it out! More recently my kids got me wireless earphones that can link to iTunes via my iPhone - so cool!

My squirrel cage is pretty loud. I use tanked 02 with my mini-CC so minimal torch noise. I listen to music or books on CD and usually turn them up enough to drown out the SC. I won't torch without some sort of music/book going, noise was one of the reasons I switched from a hothead.

I hate all the noise of the hothead. I can't wait to get set up so that I can have the computer playing a show or listen to music.
I am going to check out the Can fan, thanks for the suggestion Loco

My concentrator makes the most noise. I did a lot of research for a quiet fan and found a great one http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs...1&displayTab=F
I have a great pair of Bose speakers for the iPod and a good pair of headphones for when my husband wants to sleep at night

In struggle with the loudness of my squirrel cage too....so I turn the music up. Then I can't answer the phone or hear anyone talking to me...oh wait, it's perfect.
I might look into that panasonic in flonche's post. Is it really that much quieter?

Yes, that one sounds lovely! Spendy, but lovely. On the other hand, can't beat the squirrel cage price (free!). Yet every time the dogs sounds off I wonde--someone at the door or just a squirrel?

SQUIRREL!
Sorry, I had to
Yes, the fan is advertised as 2 sones and it is really very quiet. Our bedroom is just upstairs from my set-up in the basement and you can barely hear the ventilation. I forgot to turn it off once and had to really listen hard to figure out what that background noise was.
(I should make a video so that you can hear it but I can't figure out how to turn the video file into something usable on the computer)

SPLORT! Yes, I was thinking about that one! (SQUIRREL!). I have a Lab/Spitz mix and a Corgi mix, and SQUIRREL! is a common word around here.
2 sones ... wow. Wish it weren't so spendy, that fan!

My fan is somewhat noisy, as is the oxy generator. That's okay, I crank up the stereo to drown it all out. (Drives DH nuts, as an added bonus.)

Wow - Flonche, that price is much better than what I'd expected.
Now if I just could figure out how I could fit it into my current "system".
*ponder*
Thanks for the link!

My little room is quite noisy with the oxycon and the extractor fan, but I can still hear my music.
However, I can't hear much else outside the room, so I take in with me my wireless doorbell chime box and my cordless telephone so I can hear if anyone comes to the door or phones!
Sometimes amongst all the noise I imagine the doorbell ringing, but when it does for real, I jump out of my skin!
