Lychee Honey from Firelady on Sale
I love my bees! We'll be getting some more colonies in this week. Meanwhile, we're happy to share our LYCHEE honey.
It's an amber honey, sweet and yummy, raw and not processed in any way. (Although I do strain out drowned bees and bits of wax.) It's unfiltered, never been heated, and totally pure.
Want some?
Half Pound $5.00
http://www.firelady.com/proddetail.asp?prod=LAH8
One Pound $9.95
http://www.firelady.com/proddetail.asp?prod=ALH

If you're in the US and the website charges you more than $11.00 shipping, I'll refund you the extra.

"speechless with delight!" That is so cute! Thank you!
It's amazing, I learn so much about nature from the bees and the honey...
For instance, this year's Lychee honey is about 90% Lychee, 5% Avocado and 5% Longan.
Miami is the ONLY place on EARTH where all three blossom at the same time, so nowhere else is this particular floral blend available.
Most years, it's about 80% Lychee and 20% Avocado, but we had a freeze this winter, so there weren't as many avocado blossoms as usual. The typical blend with the extra avocado nectar is much darker than the higher lychee content honey that we've got now.
Anyway, I love it! It IS rather exotic!!!!

I was excited to buy some..... until you said you strained out the bees! *laughs* What's left?? Oh yeah...
Despite you taking out all the "goodness", I will be buying some. When I lived in Michigan, I used to can fruits and veggies and make homemade jams. One of the nurses I worked with had beehives and another had chickens and yet another had a husband that was a hobby farmer and raised a few head of cattle a year and lots of chickens. I was always bartering my canned goods for the freshest of the fresh. *sighs*
Now, I live in the city. In St. Louis.

Well, if you want me to leave in the bees, I'd be happy to!
Often I'll extract the honey on my back patio. So we've got buckets of honey uncovered for a short period of time. When the bees smell all that honey, they come buzzing in for their bit of bee nirvana. Unfortunately, some of them get stuck in the honey and drown. I am vigilant about trying to save them, with limited success, but we always lose a few.
I've joked about leaving "a bee in every bottle".....not unlike the worm in Mezcal....although I think that would have limited sales appeal. What do You think?

Me too! And since it isn't, hopefully it will be at some point.
This honey sounds spectacular. I don't think stuff like this can cross the border so I'll have to pass. Even if it could, my PayPal will reach out and slap me if I use it any more.

Yesterday my beekeeping partner-in-crime & I got together and now I've got some Tropical Wildflower honey, which I was out of. Also, we've got more Lychee honey (I was almost out!) This is our traditional Avocado-Lychee honey.....it's a little darker and a more typical mix. And we got a harvest from the Keys....Big Pine Key, to be exact. The flavor is so unusual, it's unlike anything I've tasted before. NOW, I have to figure out what to call it! It's a tropical mix, but not like any wildflower I've ever had. Think I'll taste some more and try to come up with a name...

Yes, we are spiritual sisters, my bees and I. Actually, a customer had referred me to a book, "The Shamanic Way of the Bee", awhile back. Talk about intense!
And yes, medicinal and cosmetic. Great for ulcers, allergies, coughs, wounds, skin, hair. It's the perfect food!
We've been making honey/shea butter soaps to sell at the Farmers Market on Saturdays. I just haven't gotten around to putting them online. Maybe today's the day! We'll see...

What kind of flowers would the bees be collecting from now?

Let's see, what's blossoming around here. Well, bottle brush, as always. Royal Poinciana, hibiscus, bougainvillea, ixora, periwinkle, begonia, pentas, orchids, powderpuff flowers, plumbago, jasmine, Queen's crepe, golden shower and passionflower. Basically.

Soaps are Up!
Okay, I finally did it! I finally got around to uploading our handmade honey soaps to the website. (Only took about 6 months!)
And so, if you go to www.firelady.com and click on "Honey Soaps" you'll see them up there. Yay!
