Default Using Dalai Lotus on a HH?

A friend of mine gave me some Dalai Lotus as a belated birthday present. I've never used any glass more complicated than the striking Moretti reds/oranges/yellows, so I have no idea what to do with it. It says it needs an oxidizing flame - is that even possible with the HH?

It's beautiful stuff and I would love to see what it can do, but I don't even know where to start with my Hot Head / propane setup. I'm hoping to switch to propylene within a few weeks, in case that makes a difference. Advice?

It will not strike properly on a HH. Sorry. It's just not hot enough. Save it for when you get a hotter torch. Or you can try it on your HH and see what you get. If you are into earthy colors like browns and taupe, you will be fine. But, If you are looking for the magenta, blue, purple range you'll be disappointed.

Dang. I've got an entire pound of it coming. Would anyone be willing to trade a few rods for a few rods of something that *will* change color in a HH? I'm saving up for another torch, but that's not going to happen for a while yet.

You won't have much luck striking any silver glass colours on a Hothead, they pretty much all need high heat to strike. You will have more success with reduction silver glass
