Default Soda Lime Times Dec. issue is here!

Just a quick note to let you all know the latest issue of the Soda Lime Times is out (Dec) and available to subscribers. It's about lampwork as gifts and gifts for lampworkers, and it's a doozy this month! There are some great articles by Angie Ramey and yours truly as well as six tutorials, including a key-watch fob by Corina and an adorable cat face bead by Becky Mason that is perfect for Beads of Courage. Our featured artist is Lisa Atchison. I also have a tutorial for making leaves. They are fun and easy once you know the tricks.

The Nov. issue on The Shape of Things to Come is now available as a back issue. Just click on my signature below to go to our site. Remember, if you subscribe today, you can get all of the back issues at the subscription price of $4.95 per issue.

Cheers!

Loved it. On the way to the gym this morning I was thinking about the leaves article and was inspired to make a mushroom and leaves necklace. And then I remembered the Bead&Button Show 2011 featured lamp work bead. A centerpiece gourd, a few mushrooms and lots of Autumn leaves.

Shardi, I'd love to see your necklace. The tutorial I included is for such a basic leaf bead, but my what you could do with it by taking it to the next level!

I think as artists, all we need is a starting point and our imaginations begin to run wild with ideas for using our beads in different ways, or taking an idea and tweaking it. That is what I love about sharing the basic techniques with other lampworkers is how it inspires them to move beyond the tutorial and make it their own.

Please post photos when you get it done.

Thanks, Diane. I very rarely make finished items, but December's issue has inspired me to dig into my (extensive) stash of supplies and get crackin'!

Very nice! I keep meaning to contribute, but this year has been so stressful I get overwhelmed by other things and drop the ball. Hopefully I'll be more on top of things next year!

Thanks ladies. Jenne, your column rocks! This latest issue was kind of unique in that it was aimed more at what you can do with lampwork than with making the beads. During the holidays it's nice to be able to give gifts we make with our own hands.

I've been working on next month's issue and it's so much fun! I'm doing a tutorial on making an end of the day bead, and along with mine will be beads by many other artists...many of whom you know and love. I can just imagine what beautiful beads we'll all get to see in the Jan issue.

Cheers!
