Default mirror backgrounds

Hi everyone! I've noticed at different places and the galleries that some people are using a matte glass or etched mirror for their picture backgrounds.
Is this accomplished by simply getting a small piece of etched mirror?

Thanks in advance

Duane

I use a mirror on the bottom and then on top of that I use an anti-glare piece of glass (it has a bit of texture to it) that I took from an 8" x 10" picture frame that I bought at Walmart.

I was playing around with my photo setup today also. I used a silver poster board under a clear picture frame glass for this shot. I like it.

This is just mirror in a photo cube. The mirror is like 6x6 so I have to be really careful how I place it or I get other things in the pic
Most times I just do outside but on occasion we get lots of cloudy days.......eh

Do you mean something like this: http://store.tabletopstudio-store.com/smsifrreri.html ?

I have one of these panels (appears this website is out of stock at the moment) and it produces a silver frosted reflective background. If you put a back drop behind it (like a grey to white colored paper) you will see the reflection of the color of the paper in the panel which looks really cool in a photo. This allows you to adjust whether you want the panel to reflect a deeper or lighter shade of grey.
