You didn't play by the rules, so your post says "Do not keep your mouth shut..."

But, yeah, I know what you mean. I have a small burn on my lip--glad my mouth was closed!

When the glass hits you in the lower lip & sticks, do not purse your lips together to trap the stinging!
The good thing is, lips seem to heal fast. I had a split lip a few times too, & was surprised at how quickly it was healed up.

I went one step further after reading the newbie mistake thread and becoming paranoid about cleavage burns. I wear it all the time when torching now.

For cheapo's, such as myself, Harbor Freight has the leather welding
apron on sale for $9.99 !

The neck strap needs some padding, it's too thin for the weight of the
apron.

Oxygen is not flammable, but it enhances the burn of the propane, which is why they say to turn the oxygen off while lighting the flame. The good thing is the fireball only lasted a second. I've never done a confirmation test to verify it would happen again though, once was enough for me.

Not only is there a nice fireball, but the BANG sound that happened when lighting the torch as the oxy was flowing scared the living crap outta me. Trust me, you will only do that once..

We do some stupid stuff, don't we? Did you know cleaning the counter under your rod collection could cause you to get stitches? What? Those rod ends are sharp?
Please then envision me driving with my hand over my head to stem the bleeding...stick shift, natch...
