Yet ANOTHER ventilation Question
So I got the hood up, Duct attached and did a smoke test.
My question is, on the smoke test. Do I want a steady draw into the duct without backwash (I don't know technical terms) If it curls and floats up and I can't smell it anywhere in the room, even behind the torch, is that sufficient?
Thanks!

You want a steady flow into the exhaust. Sit down in your working position and light your torch, then run the smoke. You want to be sure that you aren't creating a low pressure area in front of your face and drawing fumes back to you. If it floats up into the room then your exhaust in not sufficient.

THANKS!
I will do that tonight. I am going to be running a hot head right now, but I will be running a minor. Will that make a difference?

Not really. The issues are still the same.

Hi Bea, I found that using my HH I had worse symptoms because it does not burn fuel efficiently, with the Mega and the Cricket my symptoms were less severe.
I guess you could say the HH is like an old car and the dual fuel torches are like the newer cars.
I always power my hood on high with the HH and only need low or med with my other torches. But these are just my findings and I have NO scientific proof. Just my symptoms.

Thanks!! I was wondering about that. I can't wait to get the new torch up and running. I am watching the thread on oxy con versus tanks because that is what I have to decide before I set up the new torch.
BUT I am having itchy fingers to get started. lol

HH torches don't burn as cleanly as fuel/oxygen and will create a more noticeable smell. It shouldn't really matter, though, because if you have good ventilation you won't smell it. If you do then your ventilation is inadequate.

lol, well that is a test I can do! I will be sitting down to play and will definately be doing a smoke test WITH the torch running. Thank you so much.
I was wondering about the hothead since it pulls oxygen from the air through the back of the torch, I wondered how much that would affect the flow.
You guys ROCK!
