I don't think the Ivory Blue does anything other than... be blue. I haven't tried the brown yet, but have you tried burning the crap out of it? That's usually my default mode.

LOL!

Mine doesn't streak either. Neither does my streaky aqua and the streaky sapphire is so subtle it isn't worth it.

Don't know much about the blue but you can always sell it to Ellen if you don't want it.

As far as I can tell, the blue ivory is just a pretty blue. And I'm up for buying any you don't want, like Suzy said.

You too?! Makes you feel better too until you take it out of the kiln the next morning. Funny how some glasses don't like having the crap burned out of them.

Don't mean to butt in, but I have a question about the streaky sapphire.

Am I remembering correctly and there are 2 batches of Streaky Sapphire?

I got rods that are similar in color to the regular Sapphire blue transparent and the streaks were small and kinda cobwebby(?) looking. Pretty but not that noticeable.
My sister got some Streaky Sapphire rods that were much darker and had gorgeous wisps in it. The effect on the beads were really cool!
I went and got some too--just a little bit was left--and the rods do look different from my streaky sapphire.
Was this the old batch that was wispy or does it vary from rod to rod?
And does anyone else have the darker streaky sapphire rods?
thanks!

OK, here is my take on the streaky sapphire. The first batch did indeed streak but we were limited to 1/2 a pound. The second batch doesn't streak for me, but is still the same beautiful shade.

Hi SuzyQ-
I missed out on the 1/2 pound limit batch....sounds like it was really nice!
OK-Here is a pic of the Streaky Sapphires I have:

ROD A ---------------------------------ROD B ----------------------------- ROD C

Each is from a different vendor. All have the matte slightly textured finish. Rod C was from the batch my sis got.
Most of my SS look like rod A. At most I get very thin cobwebby looking streaks.
It's hard to tell from the photo, but the color of the rod C is darker than the other ones. It streaked the most. I think they are all from the same batch, come to think of it, since the vendor I got it from had both light and dark shades.
Which one does your Streaky Sapphire look like?
Was the 1/2 pound limit batch similar to the color of the rod C or totally different?
Thanks so much!!

edited to add:
the beads are whitehearts, and all were done as similarly as possible. thanks!

hmmm....maybe I got lucky on C and the vendor got some of the early batch?

The Rod B batch was ordered last week so it is fairly recent....

Rod A batches were ordered late June/early July.....

and sorry Anne for hijacking your thread!! I haven't tried the streaky brown yet but the Blue Ivory for me is just another shade of blue....no special effects
it is a pretty shade of blue though....

A good way to test if your streaky brown is real, is to make hollow beads with it. Then you will be able to see the stripes. In many other designs, you will see no difference between a streaky or a regular one!

Is Ivory Blue one of the odd colors Frantz had at the Gathering? I guess I missed it. Is it transparent or opaque? Can someone post a pic, please? I can't picture a color called "Ivory Blue."

It is one of the odd colors from the Gathering, but I believe some folks had some of it before that. It's a transparent, kind of a dusky grey blue. When you look at the rod from the side, it almost looks like the edges have a brown tinge to them. Sorry I don't have a picture!

Guess I got regular then! I made a hollow yesterday and it's looks just like rootbeer! I'll try to get a pic of the Blue Ivory rod up here in a bit, after I have some more coffee!!

Ok this is what I have. It's actually a little lighter than what you see in the pic.

This is not a good picture but it's a bead (IB and SIS) and the ivory blue rod.

I was told to fold the glass on top of its self to get it to streak. This should work on all the streaky glass. I have not tried it but thats what I was told to do.

I think I am going to have to try it next time I torch.

I did that also and I still have a nice rootbeer! LOL! Now that's just one rod, don't know if all the rods I bought of it are that way. Hope not!
