Default Lauscha Striking Red - Stringer

Okay, I really hope this is not a dumb question.

I have some of that gorgeous lauscha striking red and I am having a heck of a time with it. If I am using the red for a base bead, I can easily get it to strike. HOWEVER, I want to make a bead with a raised design using a stringer pulled from the striking red rod. I can't get the red stringer to strike without completely melting it in. And even then - when I melt it all the way in, I still can't really get a good red out of it. A pretty orange color yes -- but far from red.

Anybody have any suggestions for what I am doing wrong? I am using a CCMini with NG and Oxycon.

Thanks,
Cheryl

This is actually one of my favorite colors but I've never tried it as a stringer. Hopefully someone will come along and school us.

This glass is orange when it's really thin. It's much prettier in a thick bead than in a stringer or as dots.
