I have iWeb on my MAC and I know it is supposed to be pretty easy to set up a website from iWeb but I am not sure how to do it yet...

I was thinking of getting a book on it and checking it out...

I'm on a Mac G4 but I use Adobe GoLive... I love it but I might not spend the money to upgrade it for OSX. I'm looking into iWeb so I'll let you know when I try it. I also think GoDaddy.com's site builder might be compatible with Mac. I have a question though... has anyone tried Aperture? I've used Photoshop for years but I love how all of the Mac programs interact with each other. I'm not in the professional graphics field anymore so I don't know if it's necessary to have all Adobe products now that I've upgraded to OSX... FINALLY. Lol!

I looked at the GoDaddy site and it's a little confusing whether you can build a site on a Mac with their Website Tonight product.

------------------------------------
For Building a Web Site Using WebSite Tonight
<snip> WebSite Tonight is not available for use with the Safari™ or Internet Explorer for Mac browsers when building your Web site.

For Viewing a Web Site Built Using WebSite Tonight
Your Web site is rendered so that it can be viewed by any of the following Web browsers, regardless of the platform you used when building your Web site, including:
<snip PC info>
Mac users:
* Safari™
* Internet Explorer for Mac
* Firefox for Mac
------------------------------------

I sent them an email asking if you can build a site on a Mac using Website Tonight and if so, what browser is required. I'll post here if I get an answer.

I use Dreamweaver to build sites. It's expensive, but good.

Here is GoDaddy's answer:

If you are going to be using our WebSite Tonight application on a Mac you will need to use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. We would recommend using Mozilla Firefox which can be downloaded for free using the following link:

I used the Netscape (v. 7.2) Composer that came wth my Mac. I'm not sure if Composer is still available with Netscape but it is a pretty easy WSIWYG program with good instructions.

I just saw this - I am assuming you want a website and want to build it using your Mac? If yes, I have my website hosted at macwebsitebuilders.com. I use their templates to build the site. There's some flexibility with the templates so you can tweak them as you learn more. It's pricier than a place like GoDaddy or freeservers but there are so many gliches and problems with PC based programs that it's worth the extra money to me. With the other hosts and templates, I would send in questions to tech support and get answers back that there wasn't any problem. Arrrgghhhh!!!

If you're using the Mac and looking for a program, I'd use the iWeb, get an account at mac.com and upload to that site. Mac.com makes it fairly easy. It might be a little less expensive to host it on mac.com than the macwebsitebuilders. Not exactly sure.

Hope that helps!
Cindy
