Gold Foil vs Gold Leaf

Which do you prefer, and why? I've read that many prefer silver foil over silver leaf? Is it the same with gold? Thanks!

You know, I find that I have uses for both silver foil and silver leaf - they each give different effects. At this time I only have gold leaf, mostly because the foil is so expensive. But since gold doesn't react with glass the way silver does, I'd be surprised if the foil did more than just give you a thicker layer of gold.

But of course, now I'm curious...

hmmmm... I didn't realize that with the Gold that it came in leaf and foil. I have some Gold but am not sure now which I have, either leaf or foil. I bought it in a bulk buy. It is quite thin, wispy and clingy, so maybe it is leaf. Not sure. I'd like to know the differences too if there is any.

Sounds like you have gold leaf, Joyce. The foil is much sturdier, you can cut it with scissors quite neatly if you sandwich it between sheets of paper. But it costs around $2.50 - $3.00 per sheet!
