Question Chilli Pepper Kiln Question

Hi everyone,

I have used my kiln twice now and I am finding that the side of the bead that rests in my kiln is getting rough. I think the soft, foamy material is sticking to the bead. I let the bead cool a few seconds after I take it out of my flame before placing in the kiln. Do I need to let the bead cool longer or does anyone know if there is some kind of a rack that I need so the bead is in the air while in the kiln?

I appreciate the help!!!!

Thanks!
Melissa

It sounds like your beads are a little too hot when you put them in the kiln. There are several types of racks you can use to keep the beads up off the floor of the kiln. I'm using two rod rests in my Chili Pepper. Jeff at Inspiration Tools (watch for his ad on the left) has a rack designed for the Chili Pepper.
