Default flower petals?

How do you make the little 3 4 or 5 petal flowers like these. She has some beautiful things.

I can do that, but how do you get it to make that nice point. I just get a dot.

Also, in addition to what jokersdesign said, heat each petal individually and, with a tungsten pick (or whatever you like to use to rake/drag glass with) gently pick/pull the glass, from the middle of the petal toward the center of the flower. This is what makes the teardrop shape.

Good luck!

Warmly, Marie C

When you melt in the dots you want to concentrate the heat to the middle of the group of dots. The glass will move to where the heat is. As they melt they will distort a bit and become more teardrop shaped.
Another good way to get that shape is to poke the middle of the flower after you've melted in the dots and the melt the whole thing flat again.

I just heat the center of the dots where the flower center will be and poke my straight pick in (almost like making a plunged bubble) but then melting the surface of the bead flush again. Am I doing it wrong then?

Ok, next question. How does she get all of those pretty colors to stay pretty like that without them becoming an ugly colored mess? Can you tell I'm new?

My guess is the answer to your question is don't over work your glass. Get it on the mandrel, press and then decorate. But I'm too busy wiping off my screen to be sure.

Every time I see a set like this I think I must get a press.

She's been playing around with Satake lately - the colors don't react with eachother like 104 glass, so there are no dark lines or anything like that - if that's what you meant.
About the flowers - yeah, what they said - they're pretty simple.

And she is flattered, by the way.
