Default Picking up where I left off

a year ago, I had to take a full-time job. lots of personal things were going on, so I abandoned "fun" stuff in favor of taking care of my kids. well, one thing led to another and life is changing drastically again, so I'm taking the opportunity to build my life over the way my kids and I need it to be.

that includes putting a studio in my basement.

I'm so freaking excited I can't stand it!!!! an electrician is coming over today to look at putting in the outlets I need. I need to rip down some drywall that I never wanted anyway.

I've been wanting this for a long time.

I will

it's all very exciting... I'm taking pix as I go. I'm fabricating my ventilation system this week, got a table, electrician is coming Thursday to wire my outlets, then my sister is going to help me get set up (I love my sister!). somewhere in there I'm making a glass run to Bullseye.

my poor kids though, I'm taking away their playroom... but they've made me a deal that they get free beads in exchange

it's there, enough to work in... no glass storage yet, and no new glass, but I got to torch today!

here's the virgin space:

then Jezebel came over to help hook everything up, and we shared a ceremonial "lighting of the torch" sip of wine:

yeah, that's me. here's my sis checking the regulator:

I'm not posting the ones where we look goofy and drunken. we only had a sip. swear. it was 11am.

I almost copied your hood idea, because it was so cool... then I saw the window well and thought "easy".... easy won over cute

someday I'll have a sweet studio like yours is going to be. for now I'm definitely happy to have some space of my own.

oh no, your's looks sweet already! I love the brick and the window well! It's cute! And the wine bottle really lends it some class - it's like a bead studio in a wine cellar. How great would that be LOL.

That has to be the MOST UNFLATTERING picture of me ever taken! Oh god, why did I let you take a picture of me???

Seriously though, I am thrilled that you're back at the torch. And I have table envy.

I could have posted the other one... the one I took right after I yelled "Justin Timberlake, WTF!" but it was one of the drunken looking ones

and I think you look wise and all-knowing. the caption should read "why yes, I AM the patron saint of propane tanks!" or something.

Ah Kalera - I THOUGHT that was you in the picture. How cool to have a sister who also melts glass!
Nice studio set-up!
