Flame is "surging" on HH Yikes! Help Please!
I am on a HH, and the flame is "surging" - don't know what else to call it - going really strong and then back to almost nothing. It also generally does not have the power it had, and seems to be wanting to just get less and less flame. I have purged the line; blown some propane through the torch and the hose; uncoupled the hose and hung it up overnight, and I always burn the fuel out of the line each time I am finished torching. I even went and had the tank filled although it didn't need it - and it didn't make any difference.
I just don't know what else to do, and have no idea what the problem is. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks

I think I'd just buy a new HH. I work on a HH, too. I haven't had that problem, but I'd sure be concerned about the surge of flame. You can clean them, and i tried to do that once, but if you accidentally break the seal from the factory, like I did, you need to buy a new one. They are relatively inexpensive. I think I'd just purchase a new one if I were you. I keep an extra on hand just in case mine goes unexpectedly. Good luck!

Where is your torch located? If it is inside and near an air conditioning duct you could be experiencing condensate build up in your line. I had that problem and had to relocate the route of my hose, and when I was still on a HH that was the symptom I was experiencing, flame shooting high then really low.

I think it has something to do with the hose - perhaps a build up of "muck"? I tried it on a one lb cannister of MAPP, and it was fine. I also tried it on another tank of propane (from the BBQ), and it did the same thing - so that sort of narrows down the problem to the hose. I will try again today, and then if it still does it, I will take the hose back to the place I purchased it from and see if they can help me.
