Default Blue Foil Help

I just recently bought a pack of blue foil. The website I got it from suggested using it over ivory and lightly encasing. I made a few beads and I am not getting any special reaction. It is just kind of brown and yukky with maybe just a touch of other colors in areas. I am on a hot head and do not know if this torch is okay to use or if I am way over heating it or if there is a secret I do not know. If anyone has any suggestions on how to use this properly, I would appreciate it. The expense was pretty high and I am a bit frustrated right now. Thanks.

Marlene - I use a HotHead, too. I couldn't get mine to get a reaction from encasing either. I do use it on Ivory but by itself. I make an ivory bead, roll on either a 1/4 or 1/2 sheet of the blue foil, which I lay down with the lighter side facing up. When I put it in the flame, I gingerly burn off the foil but not completely, using the edges of the flame. That's where you get some neat blue and rust streaks from it. And don't etch a bead made with it - the colors dull.

Here's some examples of what I have done with it on my HotHead:

Thank you for the tip. After your post and looking at the pics, I have been overcooking it. I will give this a try. Thanks for the etching tip.
