Vetrofond Marbled Avacado and black streaks
Is the vetrofond marbled avacado supposed to have black streaks and splotches? I have been working it as cool as possible but I keep getting black streaks in it. It looks burned to me. I don't have this problem with any other glass. Is it supposed to do that?
I'm on a mini cc with tanked oxy.

I have had troubles with this one too with the splotches and streaks. They are not effect streaks but rather scummy streaks which leads me to think they are burned. I am on a Wildcat with tanked Oxy so curious to see what others think...

No problems with mine These are two kinds of marbled avocado, silvered ivory and silver
Edited to add: Well I do see some greyish streaks in there, but this is how it is supposed to look I think. Use a gravity swirl to make the splotches turn into marble look

Yep, it has dark blotches and streaks that come to the surface when you work it.
This is it on dk. ivory:

Yup - that is it! I am not sure that I really like it but I did use it with River Rock too and it behaved much better.

Total newb here and it is my fav glass. If I melt it down and twist it up into a rod again it evens out the splotches and does more of a wonderful rocky streaky thing when I make a bead or off mandrel heart etc.. Kind of like an avocado twisty but first I heat the snot out of the blob of glass and let it slop around a bit then twist. You are gonna love it too. Sorry I haven't learned to use a digi camera yet or post pics, but take my word for it and don't throw your marbled avocado out the wndow yet.
Have fun,
Ali

Send it to me. I rarely do odd lots but this one has me hooked.
Not as amazing as the others posted, but I hold out great hope for this glass. I wish I had more but my funds are gone.

Jayne, I just LOVE those clackers! Those make me wish I hadn't sold my crunch presses.

Gee, I really like all the variations of this glass that are in this thread - they're all gorgeous! Vivian, I love the peachy tones you achieved by adding the silver
Thanks, Sheila
Maybe just roll a long tube and mash it; it won't have the curved sides, but you might like it even better! I only started using that press out of desperation. I wanted a different one but couldn't afford it. Now I'm hooked.
