Adding Limbs Glue?

I want to create creatures with separate limbs. And I want to attach the limbs by drilling a holei, inserting wire...and then securing it with glue. Anyone done this? (Remember diddly-bobbers?)

Is there a glue I can rely on? that dries clear? (I"m betting on epoxy, but want to know....)
