making simple snowflakes..
I mean real simple, with pryex, shaped like >|<
I keep ending up with a lump in the middle, an icky lumpy lump where the ends of the rods (3-4mm) are melted into the center. every time I try to melt dwn some of the lump to make it flatten out, one of the little points tries to fall over, so I figure there has to be a different way that I am missing?
to be as clear as I can, I am pulling a 3/4mm from the 8mm and then using that 3/4mm as one of the spokes, so then adding 5 more... and once they are all added on, the center just looks bad.
I'm sure I'm about as clear as mud, but hopefully someone understands me.

on the base shape put lil blobs / dots of glass in the position where the other pieces are going to attach...heat that lil blob area up then attach the spoke of it...and just do that for each / next piece. It will cut down on the blobby look I think your talking about I use the blob push the spoke int and if its too nblobby spot heat that area and use the spokey part to pull it out a bit.

Total stupid newb here so I'm sure someone has better ideas.
If you take your 5 or six pieces and heat and roll one end of each one to a point you may have less glass in the middle once you attatch them.
If you are leaving one long and attatching the others to it then it might be hard not to get too much glass in the middle.
Good luck, I am playing with icicles myself.

Maybe start with a maria (aka flat disc) and cut it into a clover shape with scissors. then you can pull each of these "leaves" out to reduce the amount of material dead center.
Good luck, and post pictures

Forgot to mention....before you snip up the maria, cold seal to the other side and tear off the original rod. Otherwise you'll wreck it when you try to melt off the more delicate structure.

I was making it all up myself, though if I have time out in the studio tonight I'll give it a shot. Seems reasonable enough.
Folks bought through half of my ornament inventory at a show last weekend so I'm trying to replace it for one coming up tomorrow night. I think snowflakes might sell nicely though.
