Default Tutorial: Making Fusible Curly-Qs

Glass Curly-Qs are fun to make and a great addition to your fusing. They can be added to a fused glass piece for embellishment, also they can be cut up into pieces and laid flat to make perfect circles when fused flat.

I made this fun video to show how I make them. You can coil soft glass around a metal pole or tube in order to make the glass coil, personally I use cold borosilicate tubing. Works great! Check it out:

Oh what a fun video, complete with fun glass making music lol. I make mine around a graphite rod but what a great idea to use boro tubing.

Leah That is such a great idea....

Thank you so much for sharing this.
I have about 55 fusing students this semester and our project this semester is making 3 dimensional glass masks... This would be an awesome addition to their project... (Ill have to make them myself as they are not lampers... but it looks like it isnt hard.. So can I make a smaller Q with a smaller boro tube?

Im thinking I can.

Thanks Again....

Leah, these are so cool! Thanks so much for doing the video and sharing with us. I especially like the credit at the end: "hands of Leah . . .!"
