Bullseye 2007 Special Effects Pack
I've got 10 rods of ??? I know I should have marked them as soon as I bought them! Now, I'm wondering what they are!
I looked at the Bullseye site, but still don't have a clue.
Anybody know?
Thanks, Joanne

hm, if the rods are bumpy, they're adventurines & will be sparkly (& smooth) when worked. if they are transparent colors, try reducing - they might be lustres. if any are purple/blue, try striking, if you get different colors you have aurora. there's also a clear looking aurora. i can't think of anything else that would qualify as a special effect, unless its just a streaky color or something.

Very difficult to capture the colors on the darkest rods.
There are 4 rods of very very dark amber? with thin blue lines on the outside.
2 rods that look like intense blue cobalt with dark ends.
2 rods are grass green with dark ends.
2 rods are aqua/green with thin blue lines running on the outside of the rod.
My guess is the ones with dark ends are lustres.
There are no sparkles in any of the rods.

Those look like copper green, green and blue lustres.

Yes, I believe that those are definitely the lustre rods.

Thanks. You're probably right. My aqua/green looks greener than the rods on the bullseye site, but I don't see anything else similar.
I'll just label the dark amber with the blue lines as amber lustre, that's probably what they will turn out to be - although the amber lustre rods I am seeing are all white.
Thanks all,
Joanne

My amber lustre is clear with a little hazy bluish white color to it - very little. It's almost clear. I have never gotten a dark amber amber lustre. The dark amber sounds like Dark Aurora - how dark is it? Do you have a pic? Dark Aurora is a silver striking glass and is FABU!

It's the glass on the left or the bottom of my pics. Very dark transparent brown with thin blue lines on the outside of the rod. Next week, we'll still be around 95-99 in the shade, so I'm postponing my torching sessions!

Thanks Squid & Lynda! Such a pretty glass! That helps a lot.
I bought a bunch of glass directly from Bullseye at last year's Gathering and haven't gotten around to trying but just a bit of it. Now, I'm thinking the aqua/green might be a type of Aurora as well since it definitely has blue lines on the outside and doesn't have the dark ends the lustres have.

If you reduce an end in the flame, it will tell you if it is Aurora 2. There was Dark Aurora (dark amber), Aurora (medium blue with what looks like scratches in the glass) and Aurora 2, which is a very light green. If it is Aurora 2, it will not reduce as easily as the lustres.

I'd love to, but it's just been too hot & humid down here for this northern born gal to torch!
