A good Web Host you can recommend?
I am currently having problems with my website host.
They don't know how to re-enable my gallery, I'm not receiving mail and my other website on the same provider got hacked. All after they upgraded their system.
All the freebies are now becoming charges....security is $8 a year, Gallery is $13 a year...all these things add up....
We've been with tech support for days now and nothing is getting resolved....anyone have any good host they can recommend for websites?
I am loath to switch, but I think it may be time...

I love them! They're very responsive to client issues. They have some nice features, like a one-click install for wordpress and other cool software. Very competitively priced.

There are lots of good hosts out there. I like Lunarpages, but others here like 1and1, and a whole lot more. I maintain a site for a friend and he uses godaddy. I find it very difficult to add features with their interface.
I visited your site and you could use a bit of search engine optimization. Visit my second site below, go to the Blog where there is a link to an ongoing article that will help with SEO.

When my friend uses up his time on godaddy, I will have him try 1and1. I'm anxious to compare it to lunarpages.

I use www.webhostingbuzz for 3 websites. Lots of free add-ons, scripts and huge storage and bandwidth allotments.
I *hated* GoDaddy.

I don't know if you have picked a webhost yet, but I think bluehost.com is the best. They have 24 hour help and will assist you with setting up your website. And they don't cost a lot.

thanks so much everyone!
We were trying to tough it out for a while since I just signed back up with them a few months ago, but this weekend it emptied my blog and my gallery is not able to upgrade(they want me to pay extra for an upgrade I don't want and won't support it once it is upgraded  )....
Once Gallery upgrades, it trashes my old gallery but there is no backup system set up so that you can save it before the upgrade.....
so I am going to sit down and read through all these wonderful suggestions and try and figure out which one is best for me.

Chad, may I ask which "package" you'd recommend for just a simple web page, with no selling aspect? I'd like to have a page but not sell anything from it, although it might be nice to have the option. The domain registration prices there look really great!

I checked my File manager and there are files uploaded that I did not add.
I am a newbie at putting together a site--there are so many extra files and what not that I didn't even realize these folders were not supposed to be there. It is hidden from view unless you know the exact link--that is why I didn't catch it....
ugh ugh ugh!!
We are leaving for a show and can't get this fixed until later...
so warning to website newbies! Check your public_html folder OFTEN for folders you did not put there yourself!
I am wondering if this is how I got my credit card number stolen....sigh

I have used DrakNet http://www.drak.net for the last nine years and have been really happy with them. They have very reasonable plans for all levels of sites. I have a reseller account with them which means I can install all the domains I want as long as I stay within my space and bandwidth allocations.

Bluehost here too and I've never had a problem with them.
I also use Powweb and have never had a problem.
I like that I can buy one package and have several different websites on one host.
Prices are great too.

Nagi, sorry you're having all these problems with your host! It does sound like it's time to jump ship though...
I've had hosting with hostgator.com for several years and have been really happy with them.
DH got an account with GoDaddy, and well, I'm not a fan.  It ended up being a pain to administrate, so he just got a HostGator account.

I use godaddy with the website tonight software... real easy. They also have a shopping cart that is easy.
I have called with a few problems and they fixed them within minutes.
